The film follows an ex-military convict who leaves the city for a small town where he ends up finding love, danger and more trouble than he can handle.
The plot follows six strangers who enter a cash-prize endurance challenge at the Val Verde Hotel, a location infamous for a fatal explosion and rumors of being haunted. Instead of being stalked by a physical, masked serial killer, the contestants face immersive, supernatural scares when the hauntings at the hotel turn out to be all too real.
Local filmmaker Anthony Frith lands a gig with The Asylum, the studio behind Sharknado. Tasked with directing a schlock film, The Land That Time Forgot, in Adelaide on a shoestring budget, he turns the camera on himself, filming a behind-the-scenes documentary. Both productions will push their director to the brink.
